In this class (the 2nd in the Veggie Course) we will explore the difference between soil & dirt, discussing composting (what to know and how to start), understanding soil amendments and how to properly choose and use fertilizers, compost, and worm castings. You will learn how to select and source proper soil for your raised beds and in-ground garden spaces and how to amend those beds for transition between crops and seasons.

Join me as we explore growing herbs everywhere from pots to landscapes. We will talk about which herbs may serve you and your space and best practices to keep them looking great all year long. From there, we will dive into harvesting tips, drying and preserving techniques, as well as recipes to get the most benefit from the herbs. We will discuss culinary and home remedy uses.
This class will offer hands-on opportunities including harvesting and recipe making. All attendees will take home an herb of their choice to add to their garden space.

This class will teach students all they need to get started canning safely. We will discuss equipment, safety, and recipes. Students will have hands-on experience with each step and will leave with a jar of pickled vegetables.

Back to Roots Gathering is a time of opportunity. Our aim is to offer a supportive environment to all those wishing to educate themselves on skills from the past. We desire to remind people of the important traditional roots that bring us connection to our community, environment and ourselves. By offering classes, discussions, demonstrations and connection to leaders in their fields, the weekend will empower guests to go home and implement these practices in their lives.
365-day Gardening Workshop
Join me for a unique learning experience. This workshop will be full of information to teach you everything you need to know to garden through the year here in the upstate. The first portion of the workshop, we will explore seasonality of food, what grows when, and create a calendar of crops to have you eating fresh year round. We will then break for a delicious, locally crafted lunch (included in the price of the workshop). The afternoon will be spent helping you specifically create a plan for your space. We will collaborate as a group, but design something specific and unique for you and your space.
The workshop is $150 and includes lunch and learning materials.
